First Rose Living Art with Kikimora Studio

Olga loves flowers in general, and when she stumbled upon 18-inch foam flowers at a decoration store, she almost immediately saw the design in her head. She imagined a big flower headpiece made from four roses and two 1-inch hand flowers. She also imagined the dress that represented the vase and the thorns, as well as pearl accessories, representing water droplets.

Intentionally made monochromatic white, the character represents a statue made out of white stone. Olga immediately knew it was very unique because previous depictions of roses were always made with a green body and colorful flowers. It took her about three days to make the first two roses in white. Later on, she made a red rose and peach-colored roses, and she plans to make them in other colors in the future.

With her previous experience of making costumes for her performances, Olga found it easy and effortless to bring this idea to life. She used wire, fabric, and foam in the construction of this costume. The idea to cover the face with lace fabric was also intentional. Olga wanted the rose to look the most closely to its form, which is no human face, just the hypnotic structure of petals that pulls the viewer into the natural beauty.
